Let’s get baking! For this recipe you will need:

02 cups /or 300g plain flour (plus extra to dust the baking tray)

03 teaspoons baking powder

02 tablespoons maple syrup

01 cup /or 250ml buttermilk (plus extra to brush on top of the scones)

Directions:

First preheat your oven to 180°C.

Lightly dust a baking tray with the extra plain flour and leave it aside.

Next you want to sift the flour and baking powder very well to fully incorporate the two.

Add the flour mixture in a bowl and stir in the salt as well.

In a separate bowl combine buttermilk and maple syrup, give that a good stir.

Now combine wet ingredients to the dry and stir well to combine.

Lightly dust your surface and transfer the dough there.

Knead this dough for about 10-15 minutes or until it is very smooth.

Flatten it out to a roughly 5cm thickness, and cut it out to 8 pieces.

Place them on the pre-prepared baking tray while leaving space for each one.

Brush them off with the extra buttermilk.

Bake them off for 10-12 minutes or until risen and golden-brown.

You can enjoy these delicious snacks with jam and butter.

With just 04 ingredients wasn’t this so effortless? It is ready in less than an hour with baking time included! It is the perfect item to include in your spring tea party, and we guarantee that your guests will indulge in this snack.

The cherry on top of your afternoon Spring tea party is to serve your guests The English Afternoon blend by the Basilur from its Specialty Classic. The deep rich flavours of these teas pair perfectly with the light flavours of these buttermilk scones!
